This elegant Georgian styled home is flooded with life, as it is the ideal home for a family of three. The house was first built in 1924 and sold to John Swift. The Cheek family purchased the house from John Swift and seven years later the home was bought by Anne Daniels. Anne reached out to designer Dee Dee Tebeau of Highland Galerie, to bring comfort and vibrance to the home. Through this process, she decided to lighten the hardwood floors, redo the kitchen and bathrooms, change the light fixtures, and paint the house five shades of grey. The home features an amazing glassed in sunroom which her daughter, Lily, has made it into an art studio. She brought in The Floor Studio to add neutral rugs and carpets to the rooms to maintain a seamless color scheme. A unique feature to the home is the elevator to the second floor, which was well use by the kids, their friends, the dogs and her mother.
This 2.1 acre property located in Midtown also has a large flat yard where Anne hired Oscar Quintera to plant camellias, azaleas, hydrangeas, and dogwoods to make the yard even more beautiful. Her experience raising three children in this house has been absolutely wonderful, and she hopes to see another family take the opportunity to have the same experience she had.
The kitchen and the master bathroom were completely redesigned and enlarge by local architect Jack Jenkins and furnished by Upholstery from the Charles Stewart Company.
This home has been the perfect setting for entertaining, hosting monthly dinner parties while cooking in the kitchen, St. Paul youth progressive dinners, Christmas parties, homecoming dances, and numerous birthday parties. Anne has especially enjoyed the kitchen, because her children would sit at the large island table creating many memorable conversations. All the kitchen appliances are from Daniel Appliance, kitchen countertops by Acme Brick and Tile, and window treatments by Mitch Goare of The Blind Factory.
“WHETHER THE KIDS AND I ARE ENTERTAINING FRIENDS or home alone, there are so many comfortable places in the living room to sit and relax,” says Anne.
“The House, Recalls Anne, Was Very Charming but neeeded some work. With just a few updating touches - like adding a fresh coat of paint - she made the house “lovely and livable.”
