Standing tall and proud in Columbus is a beautiful Greek Revival historic home from the 1830s featuring a double staircase entryway with four columns. This house was a gathering place for some Columbus locals throughout the years with many members of the community making happy memories there. The house was remodeled in 1930 and passed off through the years until it eventually landed in the hands of the Harris family. As experienced historic homeowners, they knew exactly what they wanted to do with their new house and began renovating in 2017. With the help of contractor Johnny Cargill and architect Jack Jenkins this historic home in Columbus was brought back to life.

This home features five bedrooms and five bathrooms spanning across two floors and sits on a lot that is almost four acres. The white exterior paneling invites a Raised Cottage look while preserving the Greek Revival design with exterior dentil molding. The landscaping for the property was expertly done by Dewayne Gallatin and enhances the house’s grand and inviting entryway. The beautiful and spacious yard is a popular spot each year for the St. Paul Easter Egg hunt. Located conveniently in Midtown, this home offers a beautiful look into the past while keeping a vibrant future.

The dining room is filled with a sense of opulence with a gorgeous gold framed mirror hanging over the grand fireplace. A crystal chandelier hangs over the antique table and matches the chandelier wall sconces by the windows which allow light to fill the room. A beautiful antique rug contrasts with the dark wood floors, grounding the room in a sense of history. Elegant and robust crown molding frame the dining room and make it feel like the showstopper of the house and a perfect place for special events.

The foyer in the home is wide and inviting with a heavy archway paired with two supporting columns. The dark wood floors contrast nicely with the bright white walls and an antique rug rests delicately adding a sense of history to the room. The ceiling exposes bold crown molding, and an intricate design surrounds a glistening crystal chandelier. The living room (below) features an Italian mirror over the fireplace, and the owners collection of antique books, intaglios, pharmacy bottles, antique boxes, and a grandfather clock.

The kitchen gleams like the rest of the house featuring beautiful marble countertops and a marble topped island. The lighting fixtures were provided by Circa Lighting and reveal the home's natural cottage design. Dark wood furniture helps accent the kitchens bright and white cupboards which are spacious and plentiful. The appliances for the kitchen were provided by Daniel Appliance and the tile behind the stove was done by Acme Brick, Tile and Stone. The antique rug on the floor compliments the furniture in a way that doesn’t draw from the modern accessibility of the kitchen, blending both styles in a comfortable and functional way.

The raised cottage Greek revival home was originally built in the 1830's and masterfully brought back to life by contractor Johnny Cargill and architect Jack Jenkins. This five-bedroom, 5-bathroom home is situated on four acres in the heart of Midtown Columbus. A collection of oil paintings and art are prominently displayed over the French convent table in the office. The wooden chandelier is French. The family room features eight arranged specimens from the 1890's which hang over the Lee Industries sofa. An antique table was cut down to create a useful coffee table. The woven shades give this room a light and airy feel as do the light color walls and upholstery.
