Along with builder Chris Jones of CPJ Custom Homes, owners Blake and Megan Breimann create a dream home in Old Town for their family.

From a young age, Megan Breimann knew she wanted a white house after watching the 90’s classic ‘Father of the Bride’, and in October of 2016, her dream became a reality. Megan and her husband Blake were inspired to build their home after driving through the newly constructed Old Town development in North Columbus. The couple was not looking to build a home at the time, but fell in love with the convenience and community of the fresh neighborhood. With help from Chris Jones, of CPJ Custom Homes, they combined two suggested floor plans to complete the striking white structure.

The beautiful home boasts five bedrooms and five and a half baths. The couple says they were met with many decisions throughout the building process and relied on help from Megan’s mother (who has been in the design business for twenty years and works at Valley Fabrics in Columbus), and interior home photos for inspiration.

The living area is Megan’s favorite room in the home as it opens to the kitchen and follows the neutral color palette, with white and cream finishes and blue accents. The family's couches are slipcovered in Belgian Linen and are from Restoration Hardware. Many of the other pieces in the living room were purchased from Scott’s Antiques, including the unique coffee table (that is actually a renovated writer’s desk), end tables, lamps, and artwork. Wesley Hall chairs and all pillow fabrics are from Valley Fabrics. The living room features a traditional farmhouse theme with stained beams, custom made by Foster Wood Products.

From the open living room, you are led into the home’s grand kitchen. Megan carried the neutral tones into the area with Benjamin Moore Ballet White TNT Custom Built Cabinets. These colors are broken up with one of Megan’s favorite features, the vent hood with a patina zinc finish that was created by Hammerhead Carpentry. The elegant light fixtures are from Ella Home and the KitchenAid appliances are from Ferguson. The color of the kitchen island was found while Blake and Megan were vacationing at Old Edwards Inn in Highlands, NC. They fell in love with the color Dragon’s Breath by Benjamin Moore they had both on the interior and the exterior of some of their buildings. The countertop features Taj Mahal Quartzite from IGM in Atlanta. The blue and white platters are from Sweet Home Antiques in Pine Mountain, GA.

Blake's office features a collection of antique maps of the Carolinas custom framed by Two Sisters Gallery in Columbus. Blake is originally from South Carolina and loves North Carolina just as much.

A mix of fun and bright pillows from Scott's Antiques, AmericasMart in Atlanta, and Valley Fabrics decorates the mud hall. The cushion is Wesley Hall material purchased through Valley Fabrics and custom made. Commissioned painting by Emily Ozier.

Megan and Blake’s master bedroom is relaxed and inviting with neutral tones and textured fabrics throughout. The upholstered bed and bench are from Restoration Hardware, and the side tables are from Scott’s Antiques. The bedding is by Peacock Alley and the shams are covered in Schumacher fabric. The hardwood floors are softened by Rugs by Robbins at Scott’s Antiques. The lamps on the side tables were purchased at Valley Fabrics.

The house carries a comfortable, livedin feeling, with a character you typically find in older homes. Features, such as transoms over entryways, exposed brick and shiplap walls, and a neutral color palette accentuate this essence, and create a traditional farmhouse home on the green of Old Town.

Entering the master bath from the bedroom, you are met with an extravagant soaker tub, courtesy of Ferguson’s along with the lighting and fixtures. The bathroom features his and her vanities in Farrow and Ball's Mouse's Back color, with cabinetry by TNT Custom Built Cabinets, and porcelain tiling on the floor which is continued throughout the shower walls. The shower floor and ceiling are covered in a hexagon mosaic tile of similar marble-like design all purchased from Flooring and More. The interior plantation shutters from The Blind Factory give the owners much needed privacy.

The traditional farmhouse home is located in Old Town, a Southern Living Inspired Community
developed by the Woodruff Property Management Company. The exterior creamy white paint color by Sherwin Williams and black shutters give the home a classical look. The home features a sprawling, green back yard and patio area. Fit with a patio table by Summer Classics, the family has an area for entertaining and relaxing outdoors.

The outdoor spaces combine simple, but elegant landscaping features such as boxwoods, limelight hydrangeas, and autumn ferns. More intricate landscaping details surround the house, which include a magnolia and rose trellis over the garage. Blake collaborated with Aaron Land of A & D Metal Works Inc. and Gary Gullate of Gullate Landscape Architecture to bring the beautiful outdoor areas to life. The outdoor spaces are maintained by Grow Landscaping.
