CAREFULLY CRAFTED

In collaboration with Interior Decorators Leslie Wolfe and Brittany Harris, Architect Jack Jenkins and General Contractor Jamie Herndon, the Boykin's Lake Harding home has been transformed into a sophisticated getaway.

LAKE VIEW

The view of the Boykins’ Lake Harding home is an inviting one featuring lush grass and blue stone pavers. Originally the path to the back of the home was concrete but the new owners wanted a more natural feel as friends and family arrived by boat.

Shades of blue and white give this sitting area on the screened in porch a relaxing place to sit and visit with a cool drink and watch the gorgeous views of the setting sun at night. The swivel chairs are slipcovered for easy cleaning and are from Serena and Lily.

The whole purpose of living in this picturesque place is to take advantage of the outdoors when weather permits. - Liza Boykin

Kevin and Liza Boykin were looking for a weekend getaway home on Lake Harding and in 2021, they found the perfect one for their family of four. Brinegar Contracting built the home in 2003 for Phil and Anita Tomlinson and in October of 2021, the Boykins purchased this 4300 square foot home from them. They enlisted Herndon Construction, architect Jack Jenkins and interior decorators Leslie Wolfe and Brittany Harris of Benton Parker Designs to make this home work for their family. By opening up the rooms, the owners achieved their wish of uninterrupted views of the lake. One of the upstairs bedrooms was converted to a media room for the kids by opening up the wall and adding a large window facing the lake. In addition, in the downstairs dining room, french doors leading to the porch were converted to bi-fold sliding doors which open up the downstairs living space to the outdoor porch connecting the two living spaces.

What a statement these handsome custom made doors by Valley Fir are when entering the Boykins' home. The hardwood floors from Francois & Co. continue throughout the bottom floor and to the upstairs landing. The chest is from Webb Marsteller in Atlanta and the mirror is Palecek. The Oushak rug which softens the space against all the hard surfaces was purchased at Scott Antique Markets in Atlanta and blends in perfectly to the natural wood tones.

The Boykins also wanted the home to have more natural materials, so they removed all the concrete poured on the side of the house, the tile on the porch, and the concrete path to the lake. The porch and paths down to the lake are now covered in blue stone giving the house a more natural look and feel.

Being such a short drive from the Boykin’s primary home in Midland, Ga, makes this retreat a fun place to escape to and relax in. “ Leslie and Brittany made it a place that we can enjoy year round for years to come with our family .” - Kevin Boykin.

The owners favorite past time at their home on the lake is relaxing on the porch during a sunset and cruising on the lake and meeting up with friends.
